They are part of the national fabric that holds our country together. They contribute to America in many ways, and deserve the same respect as any of us. I pledge to spread this message, and affirm our country’s principles of liberty and justice for all.
I am an American Muslim. My ancestors arrived on this continent in the early 16th Century with John Smith, they married into the Powhatan tribe. Another branch of my father's family arrived in Massachusetts Bay Colony in the early 16th Century. My mother's family emigrated from Ireland in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries.
